The Importance of Updating Your Operating System

There you are typing away at your computer on an important project and a pop up window appears:  It’s time to update your software. No one likes to take the time to download the update, restart the computer and get going again but updating your operating system is important and not updating it can be costly.

Keeping your computer up to date is keeping it running smoothly and saving the consumer money in the long run. Let’s face it programs have bugs and kinks to be worked out that don’t show up until it’s been on the market. Updates provide users free fixes of those bugs. Manufacturer’s want their consumers to be happy and provide updates to help the programs they sell run more efficiently and faster.   Most computers manufactured in the past few years provide automatic software updates which let users update at the click of a button.

Not updating your antivirus is computer suicide. New viruses are primed for attacking computers every day. Antivirus updates are key to the hard drive’s survival. The people who create viruses tend to target those who do not keep their antivirus software up to date. Buying an antivirus program and not updating it is like buying a pair of tennis shoes with no laces. It is not going to do its job very well.

There really is no excuse for not keeping one’s computer up to date. Manufacturers are making it easier than ever to update systems and keep computers running efficiently and smoothly.  Update your computer today to keep it running at optimum performance!
